I've just been through this. First step was to replace the brake switch, but to no effect. Second step was to remove fuse one from the engine bay panel (BSI), scrape the holder blades and clean the tarnish off the fuse. That seems to have fixed it. If it comes good, suspect an earth under the battery tray and also on the gearbox. The clutch won't have a long life if the vehicle is treated as a regular auto and, say, often slipped up a steep drive in reverse.
